Cholesterol in Kids

More and more kids these days have high cholesterol level. It is an alarming truth that pediatricians all over the world are taking preventive measure and public awareness in dealing with growing number of children affected with high cholesterol. The American Academy of Pediatrics immediately issued guidelines to alert parents to take steps in preventing rise of cholesterol levels. It is recommended that kids who are overweight, suffering from hypertension, diabetes and heart diseases between 2 to 10 years old, be tested. Switching to low fat milk may be necessary for children who have high cholesterol. Parents are advised to encourage these children to engage in diet plans and exercise. And in worst case scenarios, they may even have to drink cholesterol medications like statins.
